Untitled

I am the product of my environment
A sun clouded in the sky like a brim.
As a tree, it’s hard to stand tall through the breeze
When the winds of humility strip me of my leaves.

You could call me the window that bars your sight
Division so thin but feels so far from life.
Caged in, heart’s colder than metal
Outside, life’s like these flowers without petals.

But still I go back to the soil and stay
Through wind I’ll sway through shades of gray.
’Cause as a tree, it’s hard to stand tall through the breeze
When the winds of humility strip me of my leaves.
