Forgiven

As I stare,

Into the metal sheet,

I recognize myself,

I don’t like what I see.

I remember myself,

Memories of the past,

A tear slips,

My heart shatters like glass.

My mother cries,

Each of her tears stab at me,

I tell her I’m sorry,

And please forgive me.

I sit alone in the dark,

Tears fall and I’m lost in thought,

I smile and look up,

As my door slams shut.
