Wait for Me to Come Home

Dear mom,

I’m sorry for hurting you,

So much pain within,

I feel guilt,

For all of my sins.

Dear sister,

Please remember good times,

Between you and I,

Perfect memories of us,

Fun and stuff.

Dear brother,

Stay strong little man,

I’ll be home soon,

Be the man of the house,

I love you.

Dear me,

Time to change,

I’m a new man,

I pledge my oath,

For which it stands.

The previous poem was among the finalists in the Words Unlocked Poetry Contest sponsored by the Center for Educational Excellence in Alternative Settings.
